Strategy that teams can act on
Translate institutional priorities into a manageable set of initiatives, with clear ownership, milestones and measures.
A prioritized roadmap, defined responsibilities and a practical reporting rhythm.
STRATEGY & TRANSFORMATION FOR HIGHER EDUCATION
I help university leaders clarify the problem, align the people involved and deliver improvements in how the institution works and supports students.
Clear direction. Better processes. Change people can put to work.
Institutional context / Cross-functional thinking / Hands-on delivery
What truly sets Simrit apart is her remarkable blend of strategic thinking and hands-on delivery. She’s an exceptional listener with an uncanny ability to distill complex situations into actionable insights.
THE CHALLENGE
A strategic priority may be clear at the leadership table but difficult to translate into action across departments.
A student-service issue may involve several teams, with no one able to resolve the whole journey. An improvement project may need a focused delivery lead rather than another committee or a new system.
I bring structure to that work while respecting academic responsibilities, institutional governance and the people affected by change.
HOW I CAN HELP
Translate institutional priorities into a manageable set of initiatives, with clear ownership, milestones and measures.
A prioritized roadmap, defined responsibilities and a practical reporting rhythm.
Identify where delays, duplicated work and unclear handoffs affect staff and students. Work with the people closest to the process to design and test a better approach.
Current- and future-state process maps, clearer decision points and a focused pilot.
Look across recruitment, enrolment, onboarding and ongoing support—not just at individual touchpoints. Combine student insight with operational evidence to understand where the experience breaks down.
A student-journey map, validated friction points and named service owners.
UNIVERSITY EXPERIENCE
In my role as Director of Business Transformation at Algoma University, I work across academic and administrative teams to bring structure to complex initiatives and support practical changes in how the institution operates.
Coordinating enrolment budgeting and planning, rostering, scheduling and resource requirements—from planning and implementation through ongoing management and reporting.
Leading discovery and stakeholder facilitation, developing a phased student-lifecycle roadmap, and designing and implementing Graduate School processes.
Designing and implementing hiring processes, gathering and organizing calendar content, and coordinating production with Marketing and Communications.
Designing, implementing and managing agreement processes, while developing clearer approaches to relationship purpose, ownership, records and review.
Designing and implementing checkpoints that connect feasibility review, stakeholder handoffs and preparation for program delivery.
Designing and implementing a practical approach to recurring work, approvals, decisions and handoffs in the VPAR office.
I also support risk and safety planning for off-campus learning.
This is experience gained in university employment, not a commissioned consulting engagement.
THE PERSPECTIVE I BRING
My background combines university transformation with more than 20 years of work in business strategy, marketing, customer insight and service improvement.
That combination helps me connect the institutional picture with what students and staff experience day to day. I listen closely, ask practical questions and work with teams to turn insight into action.

Bring a specific initiative from problem definition through design, testing and implementation support.
Provide continuity, facilitation and delivery support across an agreed set of priorities.
LET’S TALK ABOUT THE WORK
Share a priority, a process that is not working as it should, or a project that needs focused support. We can discuss the context, whether I am the right fit and a sensible starting point.
